Looking For Ways To Improve Your Motivation To Lose Weight?
Of all the barriers to losing weight that you might encounter, the hardest
one
to overcome will be lack of motivation. After the first flush of
enthusiasm for
your weight loss plan you may well find that the
motivation starts to wane and
despondency creeps in. I know - it has
happened to me!
Things That Helped Me.
Let me tell you a few of the things that I found helped me to maintain
my
motivation to lose weight- you should do the same.
-
Join a support group. This can either be online or a local "Weightwatchers"
or
similar. It is important that you do not feel isolated and that
you gain
motivation by swapping stories, good or bad, with someone.
There are thousands
of groups around, so work at it - keep looking
until you find the one that
suits you.
-
Tell your family. You're not going to be able to keep this a secret. Talk
to
your family, let them know what you're up to and tell that you
need their
support. Maybe you will turn out to be the motivator and
several of you will be
losing weight together. Maybe some of your
new habits and enthusiasm will rub
off on them and they'll become
healthier people too.
-
Identify your ideal weight. Whatever your build, there will be an ideal
weight
for you. There are many useful calculators on the web to
help you identify your
correct weight. Find one, use it - and make
that your target.
-
Set realistic goals. The best
fat reduction methods
will always advise this. The
Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle
plan is aperfect example.Target yourself in small steps. Resolving to lose 2
or 3
pounds in a week will be far more achievable than 12 pounds in
a month. They
obviously amount to the same thing but the monthly
target will seem further
away - and so not so urgent - and larger
so therefore less achievable. Make
small goals on your journey to
the end goal.
-
Don't compare yourself to others. Everybody (and every body) is different.
No
two people will lose weight at the same rate - even if they do
exactly the same
things. So - don't lose heart if you lose fat
slower that your friend. And
don't get too smug either if you make
progress faster - your friend might just
be going through a bad
patch!
